After a break during January we are now looking forward to the New Year. This commences with our annual darts competition on the first Thursday in February, Last year the winner was again Freddie Bathe, an expert with arrows. He possibly might have stiffer opposition this year. Those not playing darts will have to endure another quiz or preferably just sit and chat.
In March we will be entertained by the 'Touring Musicians' a duo sponsored by the Cherwell D.C., who additionally provide an excellent service to Senior Groups with items such as the Mobile Cinema, Skittles, Curling and Croquet which can be played in village halls.
Looking back to December we spent a very pleasant afternoon as guests of the children of Bletchingdon School, being entertained by them to tea and biscuits and the first performance of their Christmas Pageant. A most delightful occasion and one that we eagerly look forward to each year. Our thanks go to Kim Amos and her staff for welcoming us and making it all possible.
Our Christmas lunch took place the following day, again at Kirtlington Golf Club, (no point in changing a winning formula) which was an enjoyable event, The Christmas Draw was extensive and my thanks go to the members attending for donating so many and excellent prizes, I would again like to thank Pam Smith and her staff at the club for all their hard work and attention in making lunch so pleasant.
Finally, it is sad to report the death of Jenny Batty, a member with her husband Ken for many years before moving to their daughter's in Scotland some time ago. Ken who died earlier will be remembered for making and donating many garden items for sale at our bazaars.
